How do you run an Agency Based Homeschool? submitted by Tresta Neil
This is how we do it. 1 - We expose my children to a lot of different things, dance, musicals, computers, science fairs, museums, etc. and we read a lot to them. 2 - we sit down with each child and ask them what they want to accomplish this year. We talk about each subject in great detail. They make their own goal. 3 - We break up the yearly goal into monthly, weekly and daily goals. 4 - We put up a daily task list on the wall. This list is general and they decorate it how they want, then we laminate them. 5 - Each day when they are finished with the subject, chore, righteousness, and together school they mark it off with a dry erase marker. This way I am not nagging them to finish or asking them if they have. This provides them with accountability without the nagging and hounding we found ourselves doing when we started. Also, we can glance at them and know where they need help and how much they've accomplished. This has worked very well in our family and has saved us many heart aches and kept us more scheduled in our very unscheduled family. :) It has drawn us closer and the children know they are responsible for their own learning and development PLUS they know mom and dad are there to support, encourage and to hold them to their goal or plan. We give them no requirements other than the requirements they choose.
