How do blood, fire and eating relate to temple covenants?

Picture
The Light and Faith Conference will be held March 18th in conjunction with the LDS Homeschool Conference. It will be held in the Hurricane Fine Arts Center for all those seeking to add more spirituality and faith into their personal and family learning.
This specific conference is the first of many that will focus on connecting the mind and heart. Which results in more understanding, more revelation and more intelligence needed to raise up righteous, connected, beloved children.
The Light and Faith Conference has four presenters that will focus on their expertise or love for a specific area. Katie Hansen has been teaching the symbols within the Hebrew Aleph Bet and will share with us her love for the Hebrew culture. Francesca Rose will play her musical instruments while teaching us about how to develop an ear for listening and seeing the symbols within music. Tresta Neil will teach 10 ways to interpret a symbol and how they can help connect the mind (knowledge) and the heart (understanding). Plus, learn seven ways to study the scriptures. She will also present on the 3 main offerings in the temple ceremony and the temple path. Sharee Jones, a well known photographer, will show a variety of pictures and teach about light and detail verses darkness and shadow.
Did you know that the sacrifices made for the sin offering fueled the fire for the prayer alter? Come and learn the different offerings of the ancient temple and how they relate to todays temple experience.

A few weeks ago a question came up on our Facebook group, “How do you incorporate the gospel into your schooling?” The answers greatly varied. I complied a list of their suggestions:

  1. Have your children find something in nature (leaf, dirt, rock, flower). Gather around and ask them to identify how it testifies of Christ. (read the scripture all things testify of Christ)
  2. Have morning devotional with the Primary songs they are learning for the Primary program. Discuss and play some activity with the lyrics, background or story of the music.
  3. Learn history with your personal family history

  1. Have your children find something in nature (leaf, dirt, rock, flower). Gather around and ask them to identify how it testifies of Christ. (read the scripture all things testify of Christ)

  3. Learn history with your personal family history
  4. Use the Nursery Manual for younger children. These lessons make great young devotionals that are easy to prepare and engage with your children.
  5. Use the Gospel Library App. You can read scripture stories, follow along with the narrators, search any word and add music.
  6. Scripture journals - have the children draw and write what they are listening to the scriptures.
  7. Memorize scriptures  - see “Ponderize" General Conference talk
  8. Read from the gospel art kit. This is a quick, easy way to summarize a scripture story, find comparisons to your current study and “Liken” them to the children.
  9. Listen to the scriptures while in car and discuss it.
  10. Do a word study on a word from your reading, use scriptures, hymns and prophets words to describe the word and then write your own definition.
  11. Teach from the Scripture hero page in each Friend issue
  12. Read from the Ensign, New Era and Friend magazine
  13. Use Preach My Gospel (chapters 4-6 are great discussion chapters)
  14. Draw or write an application for that day from the scriptures read that day
  15. Hands on gospel learning - service, identify areas to work on, ask questions
  16. Teach your children to read using the Book of Mormon
  17. Use the Sharing Time Yearly Outlines for family devotionals
  18. Use lds.org video list for teach geography
  19. Learn a new language using the Book of Mormon
  20. Read the scriptures looking only for science words (human body parts, animals, physics, water cycle, chemistry) do the same thing with math words (add, divide, math equations, etc.)
  21. Find conference talks with the same words used in your current study (For example you are studying hydrosphere, look up harbor, waterfall, lake, canoeing, stream, etc. There are many examples and analogies found in the scriptures and in conference talks)
